Im downloading photos from the day, wait until you see them. And after leaving the property, FATE HAS HAPPENED ONCE AGAIN.. You are not going to believe what happened on the way to the project shop (Vintage Motorsports). What happened will just blow your mind, and has made this a real EMOTIONAL PROJECT, and a unique way of a series of events happening as we go along........THIS IS AN UNBELIEVIEABLE STORY with a cast of charactors and the drama keeps unfolding every day...........

The Story as told by Bob Miller ......

I know this is going to sound like injected drama, but I swear to you this is true. The story takes an entire new twist and makes it even MORE unbelievable. Check this out...
We get the car on the trailer, do some final video interviews and then head toward Balston Spa where the car is going to be restored. Before we can get on the highway, a couple of the vehicles in our convoy need gas. We stop at the Hess gas station on 9W in Schodack, not far from where we rescued the car. Danny purposely parked the trailer parallel along 9W in front of the gas station so people passing by can see it. I parked right behind the trailer and stay in my truck because I don't need anything. Next thing I know, a guy whips into the gas station in a black pickup and parks between the front of the store and the car. The driver gets out of the truck and looks upset. At that point I see him and Danny talking and the guy has a huge look of concern on his face.

I am tell you right now, you couldn't script this stuff...

Danny yells "BOB!!! COME HERE!" I get out of my truck not knowing what's going on and head over to Danny. Danny says, "This guy is the son of the driver of this car and has no clue what is going on!" And bewildered, I go "WHAAAATTTT!?!" blink.gif Danny says, "Apparently there were 2 drivers to this car and this guy is the son of the other driver. He has no clue what's going on and he thinks we are taking it to the scrap yard. He wants to buy the car and will give us anything we want for it!"

So we get Eric (PS) to fire up a video camera and record this deal because we missed this opportunity with Marietta. Danny tells the guy we are restoring the car, not scrapping it. We asked him to get in front of the car and we'll be more than happy to fill him in on the story. I told Danny, "Tell him the story right from the beginning. Just like you did on DTD." So Danny starts filling him in. When he found out that we were taking the car to a hot rod restoration shop, he couldn't speak. I got choked up, Danny got choked up and the guy couldn't say a word because he too was all choked up.

"This car has something magical going on and for some reason is dying to live."

We will all meet at 12:00 in Schodack on RT.9-20. Here is the directions, also see map on Post #46
My cell phone number is 518-894-0133 if you need to contact me.
Guessing to head to car location at 12:30 sharp

From I-90 take exit 11E. Head east on Routes 9&20 about 1/4 mile to the red light at the intersection of 150. Take a left onto 150 and the parking lot is the first thing on your right. If you pass the bus stop, you went to far.

The address is 1750 E Schodack Rd, Castleton-on-Hudson, NY ... if you use Google. If not using Google, try 1750 E Schodack Rd, E Schodack, NY.

I have a trailer (CRAMER RACING), I have a tow truck (GREGS TOWING) showing up , I need everyone to help shovel out the car and remove fallen dead trees and brush out of the way , so we can back in the tow truck. If everything goes right, we will remove the car from the woods carefully and place it on the trailer on the road out in front of the house. Transmission mounts are rotted away so we need to strap the transmission -driveshaft (cant be taken apart) to the frame or hang it from upper bars. I will tow the trailer to Ballston Spa to project shop (VINTAGE MOTORSPORTS) If the tow truck cant make it up there, we will have to manually take it off the trailer, so we may need lots of people to help us with this. We will need straps, pry bars and blocks of wood to put under the car on the trailer. Please leave a post of what items you are bringing.

This car is in very rough condition, but DTD Members have called the challenge........ and I know we all can make PROJECT X-47 happen.

Make sure to listen to UP TO SPEED RADIO SHOW 104.5 on Sunday at 10am

Just got back from the site. PDF Print E-mail

Just got back from the site. The frame seems to be in tact. The body is in very rough condition, but I still think the body can be salvaged with (Vintage Motorsports Restoration Magic). The car is down a considerable grade from the back yard, but still can be pulled out of the woods without cutting any trees down. There is quite alot of brush and dead fallen trees that need to be cleaned away before backing down a trailer or tow truck to get the car to the road. The rear end and front need to be shoveled out to lift the car. I f you are coming to help, make sure you bring a shovel, gloves and long pants and longsleeve shirt. There might be poison ivy-oak in the area.
We could lift this out with a 4WD tow-truck with a bar across the top of the roll cage OR
block up the car to set on wood blocks and slide a small lightweight trailer under the car and pull it out manually or by a 4WD four wheeler.

ITEMS NEEDED FOR THIS
A 4WD TOW TRUCK (Easiest way)
I now have a small trailer to use, but still need a 4WD fourwheelerShovels, tie down straps, floor jacks, wood blocks to raise the car guessing 36" high, and 2 wood 4x4 posts to go across the car, gloves and that... BIG GUY... that seems to be on every race team.
